Physiological illusions overstimulate the brain. They can be the mind benders like geometric illusions that seem to move, but also afterimages and grid illusions. The eyes can take in all the information, but the brain has no way to process it all. Because they happen in the visual pathway, they are also called visual illusions or true optical illusions..
