This image creates a perspective illusion of a portal through depth ambiguity. The camera’s central position removes many of the visual cues we normally use to judge distance and shape, making the building appear almost impossible at first glance. Our brains expect architecture to follow familiar patterns, but the repeating balconies and central void make it difficult to reconstruct the true three-dimensional space.
